Here is the latest news on the New Temple Project. We have negotiated the last details for the brush removal. There is some coastal sage and a few other environmentally sensitive plants on the property requiring us to work with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The residents to the west of the site have approved our landscape plan protecting their views. Our grading plan has been turned in to the City of Escondido Engineering Department for their second round of review. All this means that if we stay on course, we should be able to break ground by mid-November. Our goal is to do the rough grading, put in the access road, lay the utility lines, and finish the street improvements before the end of the year 2002. After that, the walls start going up!

There are two ways that you can help complete this wonderful project: by making a financial pledge and by volunteering some time to help with the building campaign.

Our goal is to raise $1.5 million in the next three months. Actually, by material calculations, we never should have gotten the Use Permit from the City of Escondido. We never should have been able to pay off the land (now valued at close to $1 million). But by the arrangement of the master of all mystics, Lord Shri Krishna, and by the hard work and support of many of you, here we are with the permit in hand and the land paid for in full. So Krishna is doing His part. Now it is up to us to do ours. Please consider making a generous pledge, to be completed over three years. Earn the Lord’s mercy and the personal satisfaction of knowing that you too played a role in completing this exciting project.

The other way you can help is to volunteer for one of the many committees and teams required to push the new temple project forward. Whatever your talent or skill, there is place for you on the team. North or South Indian, Indian or Western, old or young, there is something valuable you can do to help. Please check with me or any of our team members for ideas on service opportunities.
